How to De-Stress Before and After a Big Event

Hello ShopaHAULics, Tiffany here and I got my driver’s license! Yay! The process of what that did to my mind and body was another thing. I tend to get an immense sense of anxiety when it comes to something big like a presentation or anything that tends to be stressful. So, to de-stress I wanted to share my “process”.

1. Take a shower/bath. Use all of your favorite products that you splurge on. I have been using my Ulta Freshwater Mist Sugar Scrub which is great for everyday but it is $12 so I try not to use it too much to save my money. For my hair I like to add the Organix Moroccan Argain Oil Intense Moisturizing Treatment which is great to add extra moisture to the ends of your hair and add shine.

2. Apply lotion. I don’t know about you but I love it when my body feels relaxed and not stressed and the “art” of applying lotion all over my body not only makes my skin smell good, it keeps your body moisturized. I like to apply lotion when my body is still wet from the shower and use that moisture to help save my lotion.

3. Apply a face mask. I didn’t apply one but I do know that when I do it is absolutely relaxing and I don’t have to worry about being asked to do something. I wear glasses so when I have them off, no one in my family usually asks me to do something since I am blind as a bat.

4. Listen to music. I did this all the way to the DMV and it helped and didn’t. You can’t really help when you are stressed about something and your mind won’t stop but you can distract it from overreacting.

Hope this helps!

How to Shop: Forever 21 Clearance Part 2

For part 1, click here!

Hello ShopaHAULics, Tiffany here and Forever 21 clearance can be like a jungle because there are clothes everywhere in that area, at least where I am. I find that there are those items that are just okay or something that you could get but really don’t need. Yes, it is clearance but do you really need another shirt that has a studded shoulders? Do you really need that skirt that you have in six other colors? Now, I am not saying that you shouldn’t but in Forever 21, especially, you need to check quality. Anything that is lightweight and flowy is more likely to break down in the wash and with wear than something like a heavy knit sweater or cotton dress that is well made.

I would definitely suggest buying something that has more weight to it when it comes to Forever 21 because I have found that it lasts much longer and doesn’t gray or breakdown as easily.

Foundation at Sephora

Hello ShopaHAULics, Tiffany here, and after watching a youtube video by Missglamorazzi, Ingrid, she mentioned something that Sephora offered which was a Skin I.D. type technological advancement where this camera that takes images of your face in the dark will tell you your Skin I.D.

I gave in.

The full name of this amazing piece of information that will help you save tons of money since Sephora foundations are so expensive is Sephora + Pantone Color I.Q. which is a bit of a mouthful but so interesting.

I got a Sephora associate who didn’t really know how to use it but once she got the hang of it, she took a picture of my forehead, cheek and jawline. My cheeks have a redness to them so she had to find a spot on my cheek that didn’t have redness. My Color I.Q. is 4Y06, and if you take that and go to Sephora, type it in, it will show you all the foundations by all the brands Sephora sells that match closest to my skin.

Benefit? The benefit of doing this kind of thing is that you can now go into Sephora and pick a foundation that is a close match. It will save you money. You can also take that range of foundation color and go to the drugstore to see what matches that foundation best so you can also save money on drugstore foundation.

Lighter? Darker? If you want to go lighter or darker, there is an option to the left side that you can pick and that will alter your foundation shades slightly.

How to Shop: Perfume

Hello Shopahaulics, Tiffany here, and perfume is a tricky thing to buy a lot of the times. Especially if you are buying it for someone else, so I am thinking that it is time to come up with a way so that you can buy a perfume that you love and if you are looking to get a present for someone, for them too.

I find that buying perfume can be a huge investment because of how much you spend on them. I personally started out with AVON perfume and I have gone through trial and error of the perfumes I have had. There are certain ones that I don’t like and that is because I would buy them on clearance so my money going in wouldn’t be a waste of a great proportion. I know that a lot of you might be skeptical but go online and find a perfume quiz on a magazine website.

Once you have taken the quiz, there should be suggestions for the perfume you should look at. I just took one:

Go ahead and take it and see what comes up, I got Woody. Anyway, you can take the two perfumes in memory and find it in store and smell it, spray it one, testing if you can wear it all day or if it is not you.

I recommend, if you just want to go for it, go to an Ulta because in department stores they watch you like vultures and I understand that it is their job, I just don’t feel comfortable being watched for a sale. No offense to anyone who is in that department. I love Ulta and it is rare (where I am from) that they come to ask me about anything in perfume. Go ahead and try out a perfume that you think will smell good. I also recommend that you make sure, wherever you go, that there are coffee beans so that you can clear your palette when you smell another perfume. If you do not smell the coffee beans after one perfume, you can get a mixed smell from another which could be perfect but is blocked by another scent.

How to Shop: Forever 21 Clearance Part 1

I love clearance, it is one of the great things about Forever 21. Rarely have I found clothing that I would want to spend full price. I buy from clearance and it is always something that has worked out. I would definitely check about holes or mess ups to make sure that you are not getting a defected item. Forever 21 has a policy of no returns or store credit on final sale items, which is what clearance are. Also, unless you have a clearance item that you can wait on, definitely go for their Buy One Get One Free deal.

A Little Story…

Okay, so I may have had a bad-ish experience that turned out good in the end. Ever since a Forever 21 near me renovated and became new and nice, it has been great. What I really didn’t like was that girls’ clearance and junior clearance were together. I am not a person who looks too closely at the section that the clothes are from in Forever 21 is in  because there has never been a girls’ section. I know that it is my fault but if you had this experience, and you are so used to things not having a children’s section, wouldn’t you kind of forget to look?

Anyway, I tried the skirt on and it was XL, it didn’t occur to me that it was wrong. I thought it was just a misread label or I had apparently gotten two/three sizes too large. Anyway, I went to put the skirt back even though I am in love with it. My mom noticed that one of the skirts looked like it was made bigger than the one I had tried. I bought it, trusting my mother, and it turns out it works out.

So if you go shopping at a Forever 21 that is new, you will definitely have to check and make sure that the price is right and the section of the store is correct since they will put them all together.

How to Shop: Sephora

So much makeup!!! Sephora is huge in the makeup industry because it sells high end products to customers in one place rather than specified locations. I really love how organized and clean, generally, Sephora can be. If you haven’t heard of Sephora, it is a company that caters to mostly high end makeup products. If you are looking for a more budget friendly place, this is not it. I personally do not shop at Sephora but I have been there multiple times to know that the makeup there is a lot of money when you add it up.

I find that the makeup is packaged nicely and placed on display to show the variety of all the products the companies are catering too. Generally the store is separated (at least the ones I have been to) by perfume, skin care (in the middle), brushes, and makeup. There are also samples by the cash registers and much more little fun goodies where if you are on a budget can buy and try and spend the money for the normal size. I find that it makes life easier to try the samples since they are not bad and are worth your money most of the time.

Because samples are so important and if this is your first trip, definitely hold you impulse from purchasing anything. I find that going through a store just to look is much better than impulse buying. I definitely love all of the products and since the displays are eye catching I don’t blame you if you do happen to splurge. I would also look up reviews of makeup products sold at Sephora to get the feel of how much you really want it or if you don’t want it at all.

How to Shop: Ulta

Ulta is a place where high end meets drugstore. I love Ulta and all that it comes with. I find that when you first go to Ulta, you don’t have to buy anything, but just venture and go through everything. Look around and don’t worry about having to be pressured to buy anything. I like to map out where everything is and it makes shopping at Ulta so much easier because you don’t have to worry about being dragged into another area and worried to buy something. If you like high end products more, Ulta has a great selection, not as many as Sephora. I really like clearance at Ulta and even though it is hard to pick some of the stuff because it is already opened, I love buying nail polish. I find that there is clearance O.P.I., Essie, and a few others that are on clearance for affordable prices.

What you should know about Ulta right now is that they are pricier in the drugstore department. Anything you can buy at Walmart or Walgreens, or wherever, Ulta will generally be a few cents to a few dollars more. I don’t know why that is but I buy from there because I  am part of the rewards program which is really good. If you get a certain amount of points, you get rewards such as $3.50 off a purchase or a free perfume, depending on how much you shop there. $1.o0= 1 point. Sometimes they have double points or more, depending on if it is for all purchases or for certain items.

Overall, Ulta is a great place to shop at and the people are generally really nice and helpful and don’t mind to give you their assistance. I recommend that you go at least once.

How To Shop: Forever 21

Hello Shopaholics, Tiffany here, and this is an amazing store, if you can find the right things. Now, you may be thinking, what do you mean “How to Shop?” well, that is because either people miss the deals or just overlook places like Forever 21 because of how many people crowd the place. Now, moving on… Forever 21 is in high comparison with H & M. When I first went into Forever 21, I was absolutely overwhelmed with how much it had inside the store, however, that depends. For me, Forever 21 is the most fashion forward for a girl on a budget to shop for and get the basics as well as add pops of the most recent trends in their wardrobe.

Now, Forever 21 has a variety of many women’s fashion in their collection of items in their store. I will be basing my knowledge on the ones I have been to so if I am missing something or saying something that doesn’t seem right, it is because all Forever 21’s vary when it comes to how big the store is generally. So, for clothing, it all depends on how durable the material is, there is the belief that Forever 21 doesn’t last for a long time and that can be true if you don’t take care of it. So far, I have had my Forever 21 clothing for a few years and it has been good. However, I am not a huge clothing buyer at Forever 21, but my sister is and she would definitely say the same.

Jewelry is the most amazing stuff and I find that it has to be the certain few that will be good. Certain pieces of jewelry are absolutely a steal and a great find. Don’t head for the jewelry that is over $6.80 unless you will wear it almost every day to every week generally. I find that spending a lot of money on jewelry at Forever 21 is not worth it. I only spent $10.80 on fancy feather earrings which I love and it is so much fun to wear when I want to feel fancy. Other than that, just look at the jewelry carefully and check if the jewelry looks cheap because, no offense, but there are pieces that are not good at all.

Shoes are not something that I find is something that I don’t gravitate to because the shoes are either not my style or just cheap looking and it isn’t to say that you won’t find a good pair of shoes from there but I just haven’t thought that the shoes were good for me or that they were priced fairly. Makeup is a good find when it comes to saving on a budget and I love a blush that I purchased from them.

Also, before I go, when going into the store, it is so hectic that you want to pull out your hair…or is that just me? There will generally, probably, be clothing and jewelry on the floor and that is a part of shopping here because Forever 21 may be nice and clean at first but once weekend traffic hits, it is kind of shot. You will have to dodge a lot of people and make sure that you keep all belongings with you, not to say that anything will get stolen but it is easy to misplace things.

Last piece of advice, look for the deals such as: 50% off of clearance, Buy One Get One Free Clearance, etc.

Clearance is your best friend.

All About Heat Protection

Many don’t know about heat sprays. They are really good for keeping the healthiness in your hair and prevent drying and damage to hair. I didn’t know about it until recently from a youtube guru: foreveryours0727 [] she is a good guru. I learned about many products that are cheap and inexpensive to someone who is on a budget. There are heat sprays that are more expensive. Below is a few that are listed from Wal-mart. I am taking the list of prices from Wal-Mart and not somewhere else because not all states/countries, have Walgreens or CVS Pharmacy.

Pantene Pro-V Medium-Thick Hair Style Heat Protection & Shine Spray 8.5 FL Oz [$5.97]

John Frieda Heat Defeat Protective Styling Spray Frizz-Ease 6fl Oz, 2pk [$10.00]

Nexxus Heat Protexx Heat Protection Styling Spray, 8.5 fl. Oz [$11.33]

Pantene Pro-V Curly Hair Style Heat Protection & Shine Spry 8.5 FL Oz [$5.97]

Pantene Pro-V Fine Hair Style Heat Protection & Shine Spry 8.5 FL Oz [$5.97]

TRESemme Heat Tamer Spray, 2pk [$7.96]

I personally would not spend more than the Pantene price. I do like how Pantene has each spray for specific hair. I just use the TRESemme spray [Review here: it does the job, so I have no complaints about it. I know there are other sprays but this is all that was at Wal-Mart when I checked. I am planning on possibly buying a Pantene one, I have fine hair anyway, so maybe I can find out if there is a difference in them and do a vs. review on them.

Outlets and Clearance are Friends

Many consumers out there find that outlets and clearance are just cheap things or stuff that is for poor people and in a sense that is true. Not all see it that way. Those who have budgets to adhere to and families to feed need an outlet to buy things for themselves while staying budgets. I am not saying that buying something like a new phone if your old one is dying or busted or just old is bad. I wouldn’t pull back from a little splurge every now and then if you have enough to fall back on.

Outlets and clearances are there when stores need to get rid of stuff, I mean, who needs to trouble themselves with more debt? Not me. I definitely think that outlets and clearance help those who can’t afford the wonders of life, yet. “What about cars? There are not outlets for those.” Go to wholesale or auctions. You can get someone to help you buy a car, there are also open auctions for all. You can check out a car if you want and test it out. The cars at auctions can be really good and the prices are better than getting a newer car. Definitely worth it. Clothes and jewelry and shoes, all those luxuries you can go to places where they sell for cheaper. Plato’s Closet and Goodwill. I know, you might think that it is a charity place, both of them really. No, they are just places where people who don’t want clothes sell them. Goodwill has some pretty cool stuff and Plato’s too. No one is above going to places where you can buy things on sale.

Don’t buy anything unless you really need it and don’t take any of the things you have for granted.
